KMS Summer Camp: Where Children’s Ideas Lead the Way

KMS Summer Camp is rooted in the belief that children are capable, curious, and full of ideas worth listening to. Guided by our Reggio-inspired philosophy, our summer program meets children where they are—honoring their questions, theories, relationships, and ways of making meaning. Rather than following a fixed script, we create a responsive environment where children’s curiosities shape the direction of each day, and each session.

In our mixed-age community, children learn with and from one another. Older children model leadership, care, and complex thinking; younger children bring fresh perspectives, wonder, and imagination. Together, they collaborate, negotiate, build, invent, tell stories, and revisit ideas over time—developing confidence, empathy, and a strong sense of belonging.

Educators at KMS act as co-researchers and facilitators. We listen closely, observe deeply, and offer thoughtful provocations—materials, questions, and experiences that extend children’s thinking without limiting it. Whether working with natural materials, loose parts, art media, storytelling, movement, or outdoor exploration, children are encouraged to express ideas through many languages: drawing, building, dramatic play, writing, sound, gesture, and design.

The environment itself is a teacher. Our indoor and outdoor spaces are intentionally designed to invite exploration, collaboration, and sustained engagement. Time is protected for play, inquiry, reflection, and revisiting ideas—allowing learning to unfold at the pace children determine.

Each session culminates not in a performance or product, but in a shared experience of meaning-making: exhibitions, installations, and gatherings where children’s thinking is made visible and celebrated. Families are invited into this process, seeing not just what children made, but how they thought, wondered, and grew.

At KMS Summer Camp, children are not asked to follow the program—the program follows the children. Their voices matter. Their ideas count. And summer becomes a joyful, collaborative journey of discovery.

Students will experience multi-aged level learning within a beautiful, spacious, and light-filled environment including:

  • Atelier stocked with a large variety of materials to explore

  • Outdoor Workshop for woodworking, cardboard construction, and gardening

  • Cooking in our professional-grade kitchen

  • Large backyard garden and play areas

  • Child-focused open classrooms

  • Library filled with books to inspire young minds

Summer Camps at KMS adheres to the core values of KMS including learning through exploration, environmental awareness, and child-led learning which empowers children to thrive and have fun while learning.

Campers will experience a summer filled with activities that ignite their imaginations, empower them to find their voices, and give them the confidence to express themselves. This program is so much more than a Summer Camp, it's designed to give children the tools to build and strengthen relationships, becoming an important part of the community through hands-on learning.
