Combining dance, movement, singing, drawing and a history of dance into activities, campers enjoy fun, creativity and friendship. Learning and practicing discipline and perseverance through the experience in these arts are the basis of this camp’s design. During the two weeks, campers will be able to develop their own performance piece with their imaginations, as well as learn about many different types of dance forms.
Musical Theater campers will learn everything they need to know about what goes into a full Musical and Theater production, from ensemble building, auditions, line memorizing and rehearsals. Campers will also learn other important skills like playwriting, vocal projection, movement, and stage terms/directions. We have well trained staff and artists-in-residence to help campers get the full effect of the theater world. The end result will be a full theater production for your young thespian to show off the skills they have learned over the two weeks.

Campers will visit local gardens in the vibrant Mission neighborhood and will be encouraged to explore such locations in a multitude of languages. Campers will reflect on their observations through art, writing, photography, or anything else they can imagine!
Social Activism through Art
In this arts-focused session, campers explore the power of art as activism. Campers will be exposed to historic pieces that encapsulate activism at various points in history. They will have the opportunity to then realize their own efficacy, imagining how the causes they hold dear can be supported and expressed through their own artwork.
Dance Video Production
Campers will explore the art of the dance video during this two week session. Campers are encouraged to share their own dance backgrounds and histories with each other, building a repertoire of moves and expressions. They will then explore the relationship between those dances and spaces as captured videos. Students will determine every aspect of the video from costuming to locations and lighting. The session will culminate in a dance video curated and created by the students.
